The Reason You're So Tired
Okay, you caught me.
The title is a little misleading. Of course I can’t know the exact reason why you’re so tired without even talking to you. But I can name a few reasons why almost everyone I work with is tired. Which probably applies to you if you’re a human.
You are? Great. Shall we, then?
Everything on this list may not apply to you, but I bet almost everyone can name AT LEAST one thing on this list they relate to.
You sleep less than 8 hours a night. EIGHT HOURS?! I’m sure many of you gasped at the thought. Sleep is soooooooo incredibly undervalued in our society. And I know some of you are physically unable to get this much sleep (I see you, mamas). But those of us who have the privilege of being able to sleep for this long, need to take advantage of it. I have lots more to say on sleep, so read this blog I wrote if you’re interested.
Your blood sugar is all over the place. How do I know if that’s me? A few signs may be craving sugar/caffeine, mid day crash, waking up in the middle of the night, getting hangry between meals, you get shaky or lightheaded when going too long without eating, etc. One day I’ll write a whole blog about this because it’s SO important. But for now, just know that when your blood sugar isn’t stable, you’re going to have short spurts of high energy followed by many crashes. This puts stress on the body, which leads to number 3.
Your adrenals are overworked. Again, how do I know? Do you wake up tired no matter how long you sleep, have a high stress lifestyle, take forever to recover from workouts, crave sugar, salt, or caffeine often? These are just a few of MANY signs that your adrenals are shot. Again, this needs it’s own blog post. Right now, it’s just something to think about and try to pay attention to more closely.
You have food sensitivities, intolerances, or allergies. I won’t get into the difference between these 3 right now, because all you need to know is it means that your body doesn’t like something that you’re eating. Long story short, when this happens, it causes inflammation which puts your body under more stress. So pay attention to how you feel after eating. Do you notice any trends when you eat certain foods?
You have mental/emotional stress or past trauma to deal with. I’m not a therapist, so I won’t say much about this one. But I do know that the mind-body connection is so real. There are tons of studies on the impact that the mind has on the physical health of the body. And I don’t think there’s anyone who wouldn’t benefit from seeing a licensed therapist or counselor, even if you don’t think you have anything to talk about.
Did any of these hit home for you? Perhaps all of them? They are all so interconnected, that it may be hard for you to know exactly which ones apply to you. The good news is, there are many things you can do that will help you feel better no matter what the reason is you’re tired.
Sleep more
Eat real food
Exercise (but not too much)
Reduce caffeine and sugar intake
Spend time with people you love
Spend less time on social media
Eat slowly, in a relaxed state

Journal
This is, by no means, an exhaustive list that will cure your fatigue. And the truth is, there may be underlying issues that you need to address before your energy increases. But I know that none of the above will hurt. Anyone. Ever. The best part is, you don’t have to do this alone.
It can be exhausting trying to figure out why you’re so exhausted.
Sometimes you just need someone to guide you. There are TONS of great coaches out there that would love nothing more than to help you get your energy back. And you most certainly don’t need to work with me, but I do challenge you to talk with someone to find out what the best option is for you. You can email me anytime at lexie@wellfromwithin.co or set up a free Discovery Call with absolutely no strings attached.
We only get one shot at this life thing. Why spend it in the fog of fatigue?
